“Lose”

* "Lose"는 잃어 버리는 것(fail to keep)으로 포기하거나(give up) 패하는것(defeat)과 아울러 시계 등이 천천히 가는 의미(run slower)도 있다.
* 대표적인 의미로 "잃어버리다. 포기하다. 느리게 가다."가 있다.

lose no time : 꾸물대지 않다.

• 그는 그의 특별한 힘을 이용하는데 꾸물대지 않았다.

lose sight of : ~이 안 보이다.

The fans have lost sight of the squirrel.

• 팬들은 다람쥐가 안 보였다.

lose one’s temper : 화를 내다.

I lost my temper with a student who phoned me too frequently about her work.

• 나는 그녀의 일에 관해 너무 자주 전화한 학생에게 화를 냈다.

lose one’s heart : 사모하다, 실망하다.
